4.18.2008 God's timing and planning is always perfect! We have safely returned from our "vision trip." There were a few minor adjustments to our original itinerary. When we arrived in Nairobi, Kenya Ed informed us that the airstrip in Magwe had been plowed up by a farmer. We quickly rearranged our travels into Labone, Sudan. This was a change of heart and mind for us as we had been gearing ourselves for a trip into Magwe. Again, God's timing and planning is always perfect.
We flew into Labone on Friday, April 4th. We met Pastor Luke, Pastor Jacob and Pastor Peo - the three pastors of Labone Evangelical Free Church of Sudan. We spent 5 days with these men. We had a very enjoyable time. We were able to see most of Labone and many of the surrounding villages. We gained a new perspective as we asked many questions about their ministry context and cultural issues. We look forward to what God will do as we seek His will for this partnership. Please join us Sunday, April 20th for a time of sharing stories, pictures, video and vision for our partnership in Labone.
3.2008 The time has finally arrived! Our first trip to Sudan is (re)scheduled for the first week of April. The original plan was to travel to Sudan in early January. The January trip was postponed due to political unrest in Kenya. God's timing is always perfect!
On April 1, 2008 a team of three (Andy Perry, David Ostlund and Vince Black) will begin their travels toward Magwe, Sudan. All of the appropriate travel paperwork has been received, plane tickets have been secured, and bags are beginning to be packed. We will fly into Nairobi, Kenya and spend one day there with Ed Pollasch discussing the future of our partnership with the Evangelical Free Church of Sudan. We will then fly from Nairobi to Sudan and spend 5 days with the Sudanese people.
This first trip is a called a "Vision Trip." The purpose of this trip to Magwe is to see what God is doing among the people of His church. We will catch a glimpse of daily life, form relationships with the people and experience a Sudanese worship service. These experiences and more will help us to better understand the needs of people and the church. We look forward to meeting many new friends and bringing back to Trinity Church the great news of what God is doing to grow His church across the globe.
We would appreciate your prayers for us as we travel. Please pray that God would guide us as we seek His will for our partnership. Pray for peace for our families as we travel to a different part of the world. Pray that God's work among the people of Sudan would increase more and more as His gospel is proclaimed! To God be the glory!
